Frequently Asked Questions
The Recovery Edge Therapy System offers several compression garments (legs, back, arm, waist) to help expedite recovery from muscle soreness and stiffness in the comfort of your own home.
Each garment uses air compression via a safe, user-friendly pump to enhance circulation throughout the body.
Even if athletes are not injured, recovery after moderate or intense activity is essential in order to keep the body performing at its highest levels. In fact, a regular recovery regimen is one of the key factors in separating elite athletes from other competitors.
Compression therapy, like that provided by the Recovery Edge Therapy System, increases blood and oxygen flow to the muscles, while simultaneously decreasing amounts of lactic acid and other wastes that are naturally produced by the muscles during exercise. These factors result in higher performance on the following day(s) of activity.
The Recovery Edge Therapy System is so user-friendly that you can use it in the comfort of your own home. After putting your garment(s) on, you can relax on your bed, couch or a comfortable chair. Feel free to watch TV or read a book while you are in recovery mode.
If you prefer to implement your after-workout recovery in an official training facility/training room, you can do so as well.
There are three ideal times to utilize your Recovery compression garments: before your workout, immediately after your workout, or at the end of your busy day.
Set your timer for 15 to 20 minutes. This will increase your circulation and get blood and oxygen flowing to the muscles before high levels of activity or competition.
Set your timer for 30 to 45 minutes. Post-workout compression increases blood and oxygen flow to the muscles, while simultaneously decreasing amounts of lactic acid and other wastes that are naturally produced by your muscles during periods of activity.
Set your timer for 60 to 90 minutes.
The Recovery Edge Therapy System, essentially, “massages” the areas of your body that become fatigued during athletic activity, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, and your overall circulatory system. In addition to reducing fatigue, the System’s goal is to reduce soreness and swelling.
The System offers several compression garments (legs, back, arm, and waist). Each garment uses air compression via a safe, user-friendly pump to enhance circulation throughout the body.
Yes it does. The system helps increase circulation and removal of natural wastes.
Individuals of all ages and activity levels will feel the benefits of the Recovery Edge Therapy System—from elite athletes to college and high school athletes, as well as recreational athletes like tennis players and golfers, to those who enjoy leisurely walks, jogs, swimming, and more. Even those that don’t exert a large amount of athletic energy each day, but are expected to be on their feet for extended periods of time at work (i.e. cashiers, waitresses, manufacturing laborers, healthcare employees, public employees, etc.) will feel the benefits.
Each of these unique circumstances can create muscle fatigue and potential soreness or swelling. The compression benefits of the Recovery Edge Therapy System enhance the performance of athletes and the quality of life for all active individuals.
The Recovery Edge Therapy System is manufactured in the United States. The FDA-registered facility is located in California and maintains strict quality control protocols. Thousands of compression devices have been crafted in this facility and have serviced the healthcare industry for over a decade.
Yes. The Recovery Edge Therapy System is FDA-cleared and is manufactured at an FDA-registered facility.
Sequential gradient pumps work to “massage” the body in a way that helps to improve the flow of lymphatic fluid and white blood cells throughout your body. The strategic sequence of the air and compression helps to control how much pressure is released to the ends of your limbs (i.e. hands and feet).
In this sequence, there is a larger amount of pressure applied to the hands and feet. Pressure is gradually lessened as the garment works up the arms or legs. The goal is to keep fluids from flowing and bottlenecking “downward” in the hands or feet.
Our bodies naturally use muscle energy to move lymphatic fluid to and from our limbs, but the Recovery Edge Therapy System enhances this process.
Each Recovery Edge Therapy System garment has four compression chambers. Some providers state that six or more chambers is more effective, however, there are no studies documenting or supporting this claim.
The Recovery Edge Therapy System provides a different outcome compared to treatments such as massage therapy or ice therapy.
While massages work to relieve pain from a specific muscle group or to lengthen and stretch muscles, the Recovery Edge Therapy System works systematically by engaging the venous system (veins) in addition to enhancing the natural muscle healing process.
The goal of icing is to deliver an increased flow of blood to a particular muscle group and to cause muscle contractions. This type of therapy is more suited for acute injuries while the Recovery Edge Therapy System is for daily use and workout/competition recovery. Icing is not ideal for daily recovery given the ways in which it constricts the blood vessels.
